45% Women Candidates, 58% Non-engineering Students, Make up for the largest batch of 601 Students; 12 International Students from 6 countries also inducted into IIMK Programmes

Additionally, 12 international students from Nepal, USA, UK, UAE, Oman, Germany join the largest IIMK cohort through GMAT and CAT.
Overall gender diversity at 45%, with PGP-LSM having highest gender diversity at 52%, followed by flagship PGP at 48% and DPM (PhD) at 47%
58% of the incoming MBA students are from a non-engineering background and the batch has representations from 24 States and 5 UTs of the country.
The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode welcomed latest inductees of its flagship Post Graduate Programme (PGP), PGP-Liberal Studies and Management (PGP-LSM), PGP-Finance (PGP-F) and Doctoral Programme in Management (PhD); here at the campus today. The new inductees comprising of a total of 601 students have been admitted into IIMK’s regular, full-time programmes: 27th batch of PGP (483 students), 04th batch of PGP-LSM (52 students), 04th batch of PGP-F (49 students) and 16th batch of DPM (Ph.D) (17 students) programmes of the institute, to make it the largest IIMK cohort till date. IIM Kozhikode, credited with many firsts has been at the forefront of achieving diversity and the story is no different this year too. For 2023, the above incoming batches comprises of overall 45% women candidates. Among the programs, PGP-LSM has the highest gender diversity with 52% of the batch comprising of female students, followed by 48% female candidates in the flagship PGP programme and 47% female students in the prestigious PhD programme. As a testimony to IIMK’s growing global reputation 12 international students (includes 5 NRIs) from Nepal, USA, UK, UAE, Oman and Germany were also inducted additionally, to IIMK’s flagship PGP programme. This is the first time IIMK has inducted International students for all three of its two-year full time MBA programmes.
On the academic diversity front, the latest IIMK batch comprises of 58% students from non-engineering background with entrants from diverse background like Sciences, Humanities, Arts, Commerce, Medical (MBBS) and Chartered Accountants. 67% of the batch comes with work experience while 45 students represent the home state of IIMK, Kerala.
Chief Guest, Mr Vivek Mandhata, an IIMK gold medalist and alumni from Class of 2009 thanked IIMK for this opportunity to come back to his alma mater and took the latest entrants on a trip down his memory lane. Appreciating the growing reputation of IIMK and its impressive journey as global thought school, he shared with the young cohort 5 key Mantras: To give it all, being bold, experiment, lifting oneself up when down and embrace diversity to adapt to a changing world order. He added that it is an opportune time to showcase India’s leadership in the global world order and encouraged every student to never shy away from accepting challenges.
Welcoming the latest entrants to the fastest growing IIM, Prof. Debashis Chatterjee spoke about the importance of Ekagrata (Focus), Karmayoga (Deep work) and the importance of learning from one’s surrounding, as the key aspects of their MBA journey. He also shared with the students the key lessons they can derive from IIM Kozhikode’s core belief system of Satyam (Truth), Nityam (Sustainability) and Purnam (Wholeness). Emphasizing on how authenticity of actions, coupled with clarity of thought and compassionate engagement can create a difference, he encouraged students “To not just be the best in the world, but be the best for the world.”
An innovative immersion programme (18-21 June) kicks-started the introduction to IIMK for the new entrants. It was a novel initiative is a novel initiative which has been designed to to instill the spirit of the vision of IIM Kozhikode – “Globalizing Indian Thought by inculcating Authenticity (Satyam), Sustainability (Nityam) and Fulfilment (Purnam).” The activities during the four-day immersion conducting during 18-21 June included two compulsory components – the Physical Well-being and the Cohabiting with Nature (Fulfilment – Purnam).
This was followed by an eight-day orientation programme (22-29 June) helmed by corporate leaders and social change makers was also organized for the latest cohort, preceding the inaugural event. Special talks, panel discussions from distinguished alumni and industry leaders having expertise in different industries and functional domains were also scheduled through the orientation. Pedagogy and Case orientation sessions by expert IIMK faculty to align the students to IIMK’s teaching methods Workshops and Talks on POS , inclusivity and equal opportunities and mental wellbeing were also conducted by the institute for its latest entrants.
