IIM Kozhikode adopts a two-staged selection process for its admissions to the PGP-BL Programme.
Stage 1 “Submission of online Application Form” which has two components, Part 1 “Registration of Candidates Meeting the minimum eligibility criteria and Part 2 “Statement of Goals an Alternative Essay”. Stage 2 “Personal Interaction (PI)” with the candidate.
How to apply:
Stage 1: Submission of Online Application Form
Part 1: Registration of Candidates meeting the minimum eligibility criteria
Minimum Eligibility Criteria:
All candidates who fulfil the above-mentioned minimum eligibility criteria are eligible to register for the IIM Kozhikode PGP-BL programme. The admission process for the PGP-BL programme will be conducted in two stages. Only those candidates who successfully complete Stage 1 will be considered for Stage 2.
* Only full time remunerative work experience after graduation will be considered. Part – time/Project/Internship/Articleship/Pre-Graduation will not be considered as work experience.
#As eligibility score, candidates are permitted to choose CAT/GRE/GMAT (Previous 3 years). IIMK accepts GMAT Focus edition scores also for admission to the IIMK PGP-BL programme, while GRE/GMAT/ home test scores are not accepted for admission. The cut-off date for work experience for all three cycles of PGP-BL 08 batch admissions is March 31, 2027.
IIMK PGP-BL code for GMAT is “D3Z-SQ-80” and for GRE is “ETS 4748”. Those students who are applying using the GMAT/GRE codes are required to send the scores directly to IIMK. Your official score report from Pearson/GMAC (for the GMAT) or ETS (for the GRE) will be used for verification.
Part 2: Submitting Additional Personal Statement
In keeping with the programme design and vision, among other things, we rely on an intense process of conversational engagement, to identify the final set of participants who are interested to join the programme. As a part of the assessment, the candidate is required to submit an additional personal statement.
Personal Statement:
Alternative Resume Essay: The details in the PGP-BL application provide a good idea of the candidate’s academic, professional background and accomplishments, their self-assessment and expectations from the programme. In this alternative resume essay, IIMK give the opportunity to the candidate to express about the “rest of their story” (what the formal CV may not necessarily project) and present themselves as a total person.
The number of candidates shortlisted for the Personal Interaction would be at the discretion of IIMK.
Stage 2: Shortlist to the Personal Interaction (PI)
The short-listed candidates will have to appear for a Personal Interaction. During the PI process the panel will evaluate each candidate's performance, on the basis of quality and nature of work experience, diversity, leadership qualities, social sensitivity, and multi-dimensionality etc. Strong oral and written communication skills, and ability to think critically will be among the key attributes that the panel will also seek in candidates.
Personal Interaction (PI):
The Personal Interaction is proposed to be conducted in person or over video-conference mode depending on the circumstances and the application numbers received. Shortlisted candidates will be informed separately about the dates and venues for the PI.
Tentative list of cities where PI is planned to be held,
The cities may change depending on the application numbers received.
Important information
1. Stage 1 is an application process which involves two parts and not a call for PI.
2. Only candidates who have successfully completed Stage 1 will be considered for Stage 2 of the selection process. Successful registration, along with the submission of the Additional Personal Statement, constitutes completion of the application process for selection consideration.
3. The number of candidates shortlisted for stage 2 PI would be at the discretion of IIMK and would depend on the PGP-BL batch size.
4. The candidates’ shortlist after Stage 1 will be intimated directly. The interview call letters, venue details, mode etc. will be communicated by email and an intimation will be made available on the admissions portal.
5. After the completion of Stage 2, a merit list for admissions will be prepared. The required number of admission offers will be given in the order of merit, following the Government of India reservation policy.
6. A limited number of candidates may be kept in the wait list for each phase. Offers to the candidates in the waiting list will depend upon the number of candidates not accepting offers from the initial list of a particular phase or upon the candidates withdrawing their acceptance of the admission offer from the initial/previous list of a particular phase. The number of candidates in the wait list would be at the discretion of IIMK and will depend on the PGP-BL batch size.
7. Disclosure of information about the admission process is driven by concerns, which at times conflict with each other. IIMK would like the admission process to be transparent. At the same time, IIMK would wish to protect the privacy of the individual candidates and confidentiality of the process to prevent abuse. Based on these consideration, the details of the performance of an individual are not made available to any other person. Similarly, the details of the performance of a candidate in PI, including assessment of attributes, is not disclosed to anyone to prevent exercise of undue pressure on the panelists participating in the admission/selection process. Adequate care is taken in formation of the interview panels, development of objective criteria for assessment, random allocation of candidates to interview panels and other such measures.
8. All the candidates are advised to check their emails regularly and visit the Admission Interview Management System (AIMS) candidate portal and visit the IIMK website for updates on admission related activities.
9. If a candidate who is offered admission in a particular phase, fails to complete the admission formalities within the stipulated time period, irrespective of reasons, the seat will be forfeited and the next candidate in the waiting list of that particular phase will be given the offer.
10. Deferment of an admission offer is strongly discouraged; however, deserving cases may be considered for deferment only under certain conditions. In any case the deferment shall not be allowed for more than a year. If deferral is approved under exceptional circumstances to a candidate, she/he will not be able to request for refund in case they further decide not to join the programme.
11. Please note that if at any later stage it is found that you have not fulfilled any of PGP-BL admission requirements of IIMK Kozhikode, your admission is ipso facto liable to be cancelled. Any misrepresentation or suppression of information by a candidate at any stage during the admissions process, will lead to immediate disqualification of the candidate.
12. A candidate receiving the PGP-Business Leadership admission offer from IIM Kozhikode and accepting the offer within the stipulated date needs to pay, along with offer acceptance, an offer acceptance amount of INR 5,00,000/- (INR 5 Lakh only). The candidate will have to pay the balance of first instalment prior to start of the course.
13. In case a candidate who accepts the offer, pays the acceptance fee and later decides to withdraw from the programme she/he will have to complete the withdrawal form and submit the same online on the Admission Interview Management System (AIMS) Candidate portal within the stipulated date and time specified in the withdrawal form.
14. If the withdrawal is done before the date and time specified in the withdrawal form, the candidate will receive a fee refund after deducting processing charges of INR 1,000/-.
15. The Institute shall not interfere in any way with due process of law, initiated and enforced by law enforcing authorities, against students who violate laws and statutes in-force in India. In case of any such misconduct the student shall be responsible for the consequences and suitable action may be initiated by the Institute.
16. IIMK reserves the right to change, modify or adopt any new admission policy and process to comply with Government/Judicial requirements, or as it deems necessary.
